Products I love: Muscle & Joint Tea

I love tea! I used to be a heavy coffee drinker until one day, I went to my GP for a regular 6 month check-up and she said: Why aren't you shaking? Your Blood Pressure is through the roof! She asked if I had caffeine that day - I admitted that I drank 2 pots of coffee a day! She told me I needed to stop.

BOY! If you have ever had to quit large doses of caffeine cold-turkey, it is not fun! I threw-up, had a migraine and felt like hell for 3 days. Then I was over it! And I started drinking tea. At first, I missed coffee significantly! Even the smell would make me want it. But I stuck with drinking tea. Now, I have quite the routine - chai in the morning; green tea or matcha or lemon ginger tea in the afternoon.

Now I have a new tea to add to my routine - Naturopathica Muscle & Joint tea. What intrigued me to try this tea is it contains turmeric. If you haven't heard about the benefits of turmeric, let me tell you it has a lot of great benefits. Especially great is its anti-inflammatory properties. Since I am active and workout (religiously) 5 days a week - I figured I would give this tea a try. '

I wasn't sure when to drink it because Naturopathica doesn't list the caffeine content. So the last thing I wanted to do was drink it at night and then not be able to fall asleep. Let's face it - stress has been causing me issues with sleeping over the past year or two. But I digress!

The list of ingredients in Naturopathica Muscle & Joint tea are:

Yerba Mate

Ginger Root Oil

Cinnamon Bark Extract

Safflower Seed Oil

So the first ingredient Yerba Mate, I've heard of but never really knew what it did. Turns out it has caffeine! Yerba Mate is similar to green tea so I knew I would not want to drink this at night. Plus on the Naturophathica website, it states Yerba Mate provides energy, Vitamins A, C, and E, and the minerals calcium, magnesium and potassium which are essential to muscle health.

While the website states you can steep the tea for 5 minutes and add in their Turmeric Muscle & Joint Tincture, I simply added raw honey I have in my pantry. The Muscle & Joint tea is spicy and the sweet honey is a great way to cut back on the spice. I highly recommend trying this tea if you are active and wanting to support muscle & joint health.
