Flavors of the Season: Pears
Pears! I am overrun with them. So what to do with them? Find recipes to use them up. After all, I hate to waste food. Plus, according to Dr. Axe, pears can help lower inflammation, which is the root of most diseases, and they’re one of the best sources of dietary fiber of all fruits and provide high amounts of vitamin C, vitamin K and boron.
I really haven't cooked a lot with pears so I was interested in finding a variety of recipes that would allow me to experience pears in unique ways. Below are the recipes I will be trying. If you try any of the below, let me know what you think. Follow my blog on Bloglovin.
Savory Pear Flatbread by How Sweet Eats. I really like the idea of this recipe because it incorporates sage leaves, dates and burrata cheese. It also gives a quick recipe for the flatbread. Although I think you could use store bought as well if limited on time. Click here for the recipe.
Savory Squash and Pear Crumble by Walnuts.org. I could not resist this recipe once I read it uses butternut squash. The reason it excited me is because I could make this into a smaller serving for lunch using frozen butternut squash. My significant other only likes fruit cooked when it is apple pie! Click here for the recipe.
Honey Pear Muffins by Delish Knowledge. These look so good to eat for breakfast or as a bread accompanying a mixed green salad for lunch. Can't wait to try them! Click here for the recipe.
Oatmeal Pear Chocolate Chip Cookies by Lynelle Caldwell and posted on Just a Pinch. I believe there is always room for a cookie. This cookie makes the most of healthy ingredients when you want to indulge just a little bit. Click here for the recipe.
Potato and Pear Soup by Gimme Some Oven. I like the combination of flavors in this soup. It calls for 1/2 cup heavy cream. Since I am dairy-free, I would substitute nut milk. Click here for the recipe.
I hope you enjoyed this post for Flavors of the Season. I didn't realize pears could be utilized in so many ways! If you try any of the above recipes, let me know what you thought. Follow my blog on Bloglovin.
