Why Am I Tired All The Time?

Do you lack energy? Is it hard to get out of bed in the morning? Do you miss family or social gatherings because you are so exhausted it is hard to leave the house? Have your kids stopped asking you to play with them because you've said no so many times? Are you afraid you will be fired because your always late since you can't get out of bed when the alarm clock goes off?

Being tired all the time is a horrible feeling. It makes you miss out on important life events. Or you force yourself to do things and become cranky and resentful. Fatigue that keeps you from enjoying family, friends and being productive at work is not normal. We've been brainwashed into thinking being tired is normal because we are overly busy, of a certain age or is a badge of honor to prove how full our life is.

Truth is that being tired all the time is your body telling you something is not right. If you ignore what your body is telling you, your health suffers. Our bodies are smart. They tell us when something isn't right. Unfortunately, we haven't taught how to listen to our bodies.

Fatigue can be a sign of many different illnesses. It could be something as simple as coming down with a cold. It could be something more severe such as gastritis, IBS, Colitis or Chron's disease. To get to the root of the problem, working with a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, such as myself, can help.

Here are the Simply Great Gut Health steps that you can use to heal your gut and have the energy to do all you want to do every day!

#1 EAT

Eating is a very important activity. The foods we eat give our bodies fuel that is converted to energy. If you are eating the typical American diet of processed foods, very few fruits and vegetables and lots of sugar, salt and unhealthy fats, then your energy levels will be low. Our bodies work best when it is given a balance of carbohydrates, healthy fats and protein. But how this balance is eaten every day is unique to every person.

There is not a "right" way to eat. In fact, it can take some experimentation for each of us to figure out what works best for us. Once we find it, don't be surprised if you need to change it again in 5 to 7 years. The body is a beautiful, dynamic vehicle that lets us do anything we want in our lives. Sure, we may have a limitation but it doesn't mean we can't eat healthy to support the body we have.

The Simply Great Gut Health program helps you figure out what food works for you. You may have a food allergy or sensitivity that you are not aware of which is taking away your energy. You may be eating what you think is a healthy diet only to find out certain foods trigger your fatigue. Using meal plans and learning how foods support different parts of the body to give you energy is a real eye opener that most people aren't aware of when they start the program.

#2 MOVE YOUR BODY

The saying is true: "a body in motion stays in motion". A sedentary lifestyle does not create energy. When we sit for 8 to 12 hours, our energy levels are affected even if you are sleeping 7 to 9 hours a night. This doesn't mean you have to start a strenuous exercise routine. Instead, small movements throughout the day can help.

Inc.com states: "Adding more activity helps by regulating hormonal patterns and can actually help you wake up. By moving, you're creating energy which will lead to cognitive boosts and improving your mood among other things. Get started by setting an alarm every hour for a 10- minute standing break. Go for a walk down the hall, stretch, do 10-20 body weight squats, work on properly breathing, or walk over to your co-worker and tell some bad jokes."

The goal should be to move your body everyday for at least 30 minutes. Getting up during the day and moving around can add up quickly. The key is to find something that reminds you to get up and get moving. You may also find an activity that you enjoy, such as walking or yoga or riding a bike that makes moving your body enjoyable.

#3 TAKE SUPPLEMENTS

While I would love to tell you that eating the right foods will give your body all the nutrients it needs, the fact is our food supply is depleted of nutrients. Even if you are eating organic food, we still need supplements. There are specific supplements that gives your body energy.

For example, Coenzyme Q10 (COQ10) is naturally made in the body but as we age, it gets harder for our body to make it. COQ10 is stored in the mitochondria of our cells. The mitochondria is in charge of producing energy in the body. (Source: Healthline) While COQ10 is a supplement everyone should be taking, depending on your unique situation, there are other supplements that will heal your body and increase your energy levels.

The Simply Great Gut Health plan focuses on identifying the supplements that will be the most beneficial for your situation.

#4 ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

We cannot escape toxins. It is a fact of our lives. Plastics, chemicals in water, food, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent and the air we breath are only a few examples of the toxins in our lives. Toxins impact our energy levels when we are exposed often. They disrupt our hormonal balance which makes us tired.

Identifying where you can eliminate toxins in your life will help reduce fatigue. There are so many products on the market that can help reduce toxin exposure. Natural health and beauty products, laundry detergents without fragrance and making sure to wear gloves when using cleaning supplies are just a few ways to help reduce the toxin impact on your life.

The Simply Great Gut Health plan gives you a strategy for reducing toxins in your life.

#5 COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES

There are so many other healthy activities and products that can fight fatigue. Essential oils, meditation, stress reduction, journaling and dry brushing are just a few. Once the root cause of your fatigue is identified, a unique plan of complementary activities and products are added. This continues to support your overall health since fatigue can be brought on by a variety of factors.

I hope you enjoyed learning more about the Simply Great Gut Health plan. It is a flexible plan that is customized for your unique situation and fits into your busy life.
